Description

The course focuses on identity-forming choral pedagogical work with children of primary school age. The starting point is the local society, in which the majority of children and young people have an international family history.
A pilot project is used to address key issues relating to repertoire selection, the promotion and communication of cultural diversity and the role of choral work in educational processes. Students reflect on different methodological approaches and develop their own teaching strategies. With the help of selected specialist literature, topics such as musical tradition formation and canon, othering and cultural appropriation, hegemony, acculturation, segregation and integration are discussed in a socio-pedagogical context.
In cooperation with Hamburg elementary school and the Hamburg Boys' Choir, students gain an insight into specific pedagogical fields of work and can gain practical experience.
