Description

[This course is taught by Kian Jazdi, www.kianjazdi.de]
How is music created in a dialog between musicians/composers and participants who often have no professional musical training themselves? In this seminar, we immerse ourselves in methods of participatory composing. The central task is to develop a common musical language from a group's individual ideas, motifs, fragments and rhythmic motifs, from which compositions, installations or performative formats can emerge.
The seminar is practice-oriented and closely linked to work shadowing in the Elbphilharmonie's Lost and Found project. With 30 people from Hamburg, a professional Iranian music ensemble and a drama director, work is being done there on the subject of loss and hope. The development of the piece there offers students the opportunity to experience the methods tested in the seminar in a real artistic process and, if necessary, to get involved themselves.
Incl 6h work shadowing in the Elbphilharmonie
