Description

The seminar views the body as the starting point for artistic experience and collaborative
processes. Guided by the motto “Come as you are,” students contribute their individual
experiences of movement and the body to a shared research process. Different
bodies, perspectives, and forms of expression are understood as artistic resources. The
group becomes the central space for experience and creation: Through encounter, mutual
perception, and collective action, trust, presence, and collective creativity emerge.
Using fundamental principles of contemporary dance, students develop presence,
body awareness, and quality of movement. Through improvisation, choreographic exercises, and
ensemble work, they explore how individual movement impulses give rise to shared choreographic
material and how performative situations emerge from it. The seminar combines
artistic practice with reflection and opens up approaches to contemporary dance, performance, and
theater education methodologies. Central to this is the experience that artistic processes
emerge both from the individuality of each person and from the dynamics of the group.
