Contemporary Vocal Music by Women* Composers
This course deepens students’ theoretical and practical understanding of the possibilities of the voice and the singing voice in contemporary music. Participation in the introductory course is recommended but not required.
The course centers on the intensive study of repertoire, with a special focus on works by female* composers under the age of 30, most of which were composed after 2020.
In addition to the works presented and explored collectively in the course, participants are expressly invited to contribute their own interests and suggestions regarding vocal techniques, aesthetics, and repertoire. Topics may include, among others, the musical avant-garde since the 1950s, various forms of electronic music, extended vocal techniques, performative approaches, and collaboration with composers, who are also warmly invited to participate in the course.The final concert will take place on January 27, 2027, in the Organ Studio.
