• African-American traditions of musical learning
• Small group work (quartet to octet), (barbershop quartet/Andrews Sisters)
• Specialized sessions during which participants can choose to learn and refine vocal improvisation and piano accompaniment
• Intensive work on rhythm and “swing feel” through exercises and a repertoire specifically selected for this purpose
• Studies in lyrics and subtext—a fresh perspective on the language of African American jazz and blues

• Arrangements by Darmon Meader, Gene Purling...
• Big band transcriptions for choir, scat vocabulary, and improvisation (ensemble and solo)
