The emergence of jazz around the turn of the century and its development through 1950. Collaborative listening to and analysis of relevant musical pieces. Consideration of gender studies perspectives in the development of jazz. History of jazz between 1950 and 1980; in particular: modal jazz, free jazz, the European scene, and jazz in Germany. Collective listening to and analysis of the corresponding musical pieces. Consideration of aspects of gender studies in the development of jazz.
