Today, there are almost as many distinct vocal styles in contemporary music as there are singers.
This masterclass focuses on explaining modern vocal technique—specifically, the fundamentals of classical vocal training—as well as the development of Broadway, jazz, pop, rock, and chanson styles, and the various applications of vocal timbres and modalities from the last century.
The fundamentals of popular singing—with a focus on vocal timbre and stylistics—will be explained, and exercises will be conducted to expand the dynamic range and vocal range through healthy vocal technique, including belting and mixed voice. Furthermore, students receive one-on-one coaching on songs from the genres of musical theater, jazz, pop, and rock, using a microphone.
