How can musical material give rise to an artistic act? How can what we play, hear, and explore be translated into new artistic projects featuring new formats and real-life encounters?
In this seminar, students will explore examples of folk and musical traditions from Central and Eastern Europe (including George Enescu), trace their influence in art music, and adapt them into contemporary artistic formats without perpetuating national stereotypes.
The focus is not on finding a single “correct” solution, but rather on the ability to ask relevant questions driven by one’s own artistic curiosity and to develop possible courses of action from them.How can we work with historical material responsibly and creatively? Who tells the stories of musical traditions, and which perspectives are missing?
The seminar combines research and practice: fieldwork, listening and perception experiments, engagement with venues and audiences, and the development of new forms of media expression for one’s own artistic voice.
This seminar is aimed at anyone who wishes to expand their musical practice, design their own projects, and actively connect art with its context.CONTENTS
