Description

The seminar spans two semesters and covers a wide range of topics in music production and their application in the studio and in live performance settings.
Among other things, the following practical and career-oriented areas are covered:

- Musical and sonic analysis of existing productions
- Fundamentals of acoustics
- Microphone types and their applications
- Recording specific instruments
- Recording techniques: ensemble and overdubs
- Mixing and mastering
- Basic knowledge of audio signals, connector types, etc.
- Technical aural training: listening to and identifying audio engineering phenomena
- Studio work from the perspectives of musicians and producers
- Stage technology: monitoring, tech riders, communication

The seminar takes place (with some exceptions) every two weeks in three-hour sessions.
The first of two semesters concludes with a recording session, which serves as the basis for mixing and mastering sessions in the second semester.

The goal of the seminar is to enable participants to produce and evaluate recordings on their own, as well as to familiarize themselves with music production processes.
