- Description
School learning groups are generally characterized by a high degree of heterogeneity. Examples of dimensions of heterogeneity that are particularly relevant when making music together include diverse cultural backgrounds, varied musical preferences, and differences in students’ prior knowledge. Against this backdrop, the question arises as to how making music together in a classroom setting can be structured so that all students are included and receive optimal support.
As part of this seminar, various concepts for making music with heterogeneous learning groups will be presented and, above all, tested firsthand. The spectrum ranges from more traditional approaches—such as making music with Orff instruments—to experimental sound activities using everyday objects, and even concepts influenced by popular music practices such as “band without sheet music.” In addition to gaining insight into the repertoire for music education in schools, participants will also receive many practical methodological tips.
The seminar is not only aimed at students majoring in music education but also at anyone interested in designing music-making experiences in a school setting. Basic knowledge of playing a musical instrument is beneficial for participating in the seminar.- Credits
