Artistic Exchange on Sensory Research
Wednesday, 09/25/2024 18:30 - 20:30 ligeti zentrum, 10. OG

Even as a fetus, we hear bowel sounds. They can tell us so much and yet we don't listen to them, we even stigmatize them. In this artistic exchange, we want to make the sounds audible together and sensitize ourselves to the sounds that are often silenced in everyday life. Together, we will create a sound bath of intestinal sounds that affects our internal organs and stimulates them to communicate across organs beyond semantics. In this way, we also explore the production lab as the guts of the artistic work - or the so-called 'second brain' - of the ligeti center.

This artistic exchange is divided into three sections. First, we give an insight into our research process at the interface of medicine and electroacoustic research. With the findings of our collaboration between art and science, we want to provide impulses for the transdisciplinary collaboration of creative professionals.

In the second step, participants are invited to explore the "inflatable" installation on site and incorporate their own bowel sounds into the installation using special hydrophone recording techniques. At the end, all participants will reflect on their experiences in a collective exchange/sound bath of their bowel sounds. With this playful/intuitive exchange, we want to destigmatize and "queer" body sounds and expression.

The event will be held in English.
