The content on this page was translated automatically.
The Sustainable Theater Lab at ligeti zentrum Hamburg explores the technical, social and aesthetic possibilities for a theater of the 21st century. It explores new narratives and looks for innovations and exnovations in the face of diverse ecological and social challenges. The establishment of a socially and ecologically sustainable theater in Hamburg-Harburg is planned for 2027. During the 3-day hub in October, we will first take a closer look at the Harburg district with walks, lectures and bike tours.
You can expect exciting lectures, workshops and artistic walks on topics such as sustainability, the transformation of urban districts and artistic practice. Highlights include contributions by Christian Tschirner, Dominic Wills and Frederik Schawaller as well as a soundwalk session through Harburg.

10:00 - 12:30 Spaces of possibility in the city
With Joe from Walls Can Dance, we will focus on our visual perception and discover spaces of possibility in the city that can create awareness through art and creativity. We will sharpen our gaze and search together for associative links to overarching themes of our time, forming a collective awareness of "Who sees what and how?". How can these spaces of possibility be designed performatively?
Walls Can Dance is an open space gallery for urban art in Hamburg Harburg, which links Harburg city center and Harburg inner harbor - separated by the federal highway and harbor railroad - through selective artistic interventions in public space, thus creating a symbolic connection.
12:30 - 13:30 Lunch break in the Fischhalle (self-catering)
13:30 - 15:15 Transformation of a district
How has Harburg changed over the past 200 years? What role did Harburg's inland port play in industrialization? What traces of this can still be seen today? How does a district change when it loses its original function? Who are the actors in this transformation? What challenges does climate change pose for district development?
With changing perspectives, we will discover the inland port on foot, on water and from the air!
15:30 - 16:30 Peatlands as CO2 reservoirs
Lecture Frederik Schawaller, ligeti zentrum
Peatlands are one of the most effective CO2 reservoirs we have. Nevertheless, they continue to be destroyed. For example through new highway construction in Harburg.
