ENCOUNTER CONCERT

Last semester, the chamber choir of the HfMT Hamburg traveled to Munich and visited the Madrigal Choir of the HMTM Munich. Both choirs are winners of the German Choir Competition: the Madrigal Choir in 2014 and our Chamber Choir in 2018. There had long been a desire to organize a joint project, but this was initially impossible due to Corona. Now the meeting could take place and we are very happy that the Munich choir is coming to us for a return visit in the summer semester.
The choirs will rehearse together and give a joint concert in the Forum. Each choir will sing its own program with works ranging from baroque (Antonio Lotti) to modern (Caroline Shaw). The highlight will be two works that both choirs will sing together: Giovanni Gabrieli's "Magnificat" for 12 voices in three choirs and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's grandiose "Hora est" for 16 voices in four choirs.
The concert will be conducted by Prof. Martin Steidler and Prof. Cornelius Trantow
