Roxana Mondragón, born in 1998, is a Venezuelan horn player. She grew up in Mérida-Venezuela and started taking violin lessons at the age of 4 in "El Sistema"
Venezuela. At the age of 14 she took her first lessons with horn player Luis Flores, where her love and joy for playing the horn began. In 2015 Roxana started her Bachelor's degree in "Music of Arts" majoring in Horn in "Universidad de los Andes Venezuela". During her studies she started the tutti position in "Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado- Mérida", where she was lucky enough to play in chamber music projects and gain experience as a soloist. Due to the political situation in her home country, Roxana decided not to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree in Venezuela. She moved to Germany in August 2018 for a better future to further prepare for her music studies. During this time, she played in many youth orchestras in Hamburg and took horn lessons with several professors such as Prof. Ab Köster, Prof. Přemysl Vojta, Edouard Cambreling, Paulo Muñoz Toledo, Prof. Thomas Hauschild and Prof. Jens Plücker. In October 2020, she began studying instrumental pedagogy with Prof. Adrian Díaz Martínez at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama, majoring in horn. One semester later, Mr. Hasko Kröger became her teacher. Roxana Mondragón was also an academist of festivals such as Moritzburg Festival, Cuban-European Youth Academy of Balthasar Neumann and Hundisburg Festival. Since February 2022 she plays 4-2 horn as a substitute in Die hamburger Camerata and has a musical trio: "Nómade", where she is part of the Yehudi Menuhin Music live Now hamburg foundation with other 2 Latin American students of the HFMT Hamburg. Roxana Mondragón has completed her studies as an instrumental pedagogue with Mr. Hasko Kröger and is currently studying her artistic education in the sixth semester in the class of Mr. Ivo Dudler. She is very involved with the university and enjoys doing projects such as making instruments at the summer festival and working with the Feminale and Diversity project at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama.
