Scenic installations: DRAMA! Marathon A+B
Saturday, 10/18/2025 15:00 HfMT Campus Barmbek, Kleine Bühne

DRAMA! enters its sixth round. Launched as an experiment in 2020, the format has proven to be very enduring. Constantly evolving, it has established itself as a central project in the education of three universities.

What makes it so special? For the first time, young authors work TOGETHER with directors, dramaturges and actors on a project. Each discipline is taught individually and brought together under the guidance of the teachers. Collective work is tried out, but still based on a division of labor according to profession. The actors are also involved in conception and design as equal partners - a step in the training of the often-invoked independent actor.

This joint training is forward-looking and forms a solid foundation for the highly complex demands of professional life. The teaching and learning format has become deeply engrained in the hearts and minds of the students. For some it is the best experience of their studies, for others it is the start of long-term working friendships.

Landen
By Laura Stern

Three friends in a hospital. Cana is in a coma after racist police violence. Bea and Nelly fall through the floors, from top to bottom and back up again. It's almost as if it's always been like this. Does the landing remain a hope or does it scare them? Is it all about the fall in the end?

TNT
By Demian

War is difficult for most of us to imagine. Although it is constantly present in the news and is getting ever closer, it seems far removed from our private everyday lives, our life plans, our wishes, friendships and loves. But what if your best friend was planning to go to war? Would you be for or against it? Yes or no?

FAYE
...Speaking only from the head, I find it rather difficult to understand why we get so excited. Instead of behaving infantile or making decisions based on our hearts and thus losing time, it's best to

Asa&Mo//Plaatzwunden
By Lili Roesing

Asa and Mo have known each other their whole lives. Since early childhood, they have shared their dreams and fears, the view from the window of the prefabricated building and a deep friendship. But as they grow up, they have to ask themselves what holds them together apart from their memories. Is a shared past enough for a shared future, or do they have to let go of each other and a piece of their childhood?

Scenic design Margit Pötzsch
Dramaturgy Violetta Zwick
Costume Emily Geist
Lighting design Lukas Mattern

Men Play
By Anton Fischer

In the shadow of contemporary military training, a small group of men play serious games. Activity formed from competition, aggression and comedy determines the scenes. This staged reading focuses on the linguistic formation of male speech and poses the question of the extent to which something like successful communication is even possible under male domination.

The terror he holds in his hands is not ours
By Peppa Camila Briones E.

Hello, amiga.... I haven't called you girlfriend in a while, sorry.... Has everything been okay since I left? Is everything the same as always? ...... Hello.... I'm here to tell you... I think you already know, I think you already know what's going on, but you don't know that I've been through it too.... I'm here to tell you what you still can't tell me.

After ten years, a group of former classmates meet again for the first time and dive together into the memories of their own 13-year-old selves, trying to make it through the school system between pressure to perform, dance rehearsals and an abusive PE teacher.

Leiben
By Sunan Gu

"We watch, we are watched. We dance, we are danced. We speak, we are spoken. A tear drips from our face. But we forget: Is it our tear?"
Where does the story end, where does reality begin? In Leiben, Xuan and Tobias transcend the boundaries of fiction and physicality and question the voyeuristic desire for authenticity and identity. The lights are on. My stage begins.

RESOURCES
in a version for DRAMA! 2025
by Sunan Gu

In times of supposed abundance and social division, truth becomes a commodity and one's own voice becomes a survival tool. Based on this thesis, Sunan Gu sheds light on the everyday fates of various characters in Berlin's Wedding district and poetically interweaves them with questions about postmodern theater. In Aniol Kirberg's production, four performers present these stories and examine whether people (and animals and plants) can still meet as subjects capable of acting when everything threatens to melt away.
