Wednesday, 10/14/2026 19:30 HfMT, JazzHall

The focus of this special evening is Guinga, one of Brazil’s most important composers and guitarists. Born in Madureira, Rio de Janeiro, he has spent decades developing a distinctive musical language, shaped by choro and samba, the Brazilian song tradition, classical guitar, and an exceptionally rich harmonic palette.
Joining him is singer, composer, and researcher Anna Paes, who has been collaborating with Guinga since 2013. This close musical partnership has resulted in joint compositions, international concert tours, and the albums “Você Você – Anna Paes canta Guinga” (2022) and “Julieta no Convés – Guinga & Anna Paes” (2024).

For Sons do Brasil, this duo will be joined by a special lineup of Hamburg-based musicians. Curated by Lucas Etcheverria, the series regularly brings together Brazilian guest artists with musicians from the HfMT Hamburg community and the local jazz scene, thereby earning a firm place within the city’s Brazilian-influenced music scene.

Anna Paes – vocals
Lucas Etcheverria – guitar / vocals
Samantha Wright – clarinet
