The study program

In the Bachelor's degree course in jazz at the HfMT Hamburg , students acquire fundamental and comprehensive qualifications for artistic work as a jazz musician in the professional music scene. The work on instrument-specific skills, both on an artistic-practical level and a theoretical-reflective level, is a central component of the training and is supplemented by an intensive examination of the diverse demands of a professional life as a freelance musician. The aim of the training is to be as practical and application-oriented as possible. 

The Bachelor's degree course in Jazz comprises a standard period of study of 8 semesters. A total of 10 different main subjects are offered and all students receive full classical main subject tuition in addition to the jazz main subject tuition. The course is divided into 5 modules.
