The application period for the 2027/28 winter semester begins on February 15, 2027, and ends on April 1, 2027.
To successfully apply for the Opera Singing program, the following steps must be completed within the application period:
- Submission of the online application, including upload of supporting documents*
- Receipt of the application fee (payment information is provided at the end of the completed online application)
- Upload of a video link ( for the Master’s program)
Your application will only be considered if all the steps described above are fully completed within the application deadline and the online application, application fee, and video have been received.
*Please note that proof of German language proficiency (minimum B1 level for the Master’s program, minimum B2 level for the Bachelor’s program) must also be submitted within the application deadline

Master
After the application deadline, a pre-selection will be made from the applications received on the basis of the videos and this selection will be invited to a 2nd selection round (probably on site).
Requirements Video
For the video recording exam, the following works must be recorded and uploaded as a video within the application deadline:
- at least 4 songs/arias from at least 2 stylistic periods
- of which 2 opera arias (duration 20 min)
At the beginning of the video, please briefly introduce yourself orally (max. 3 min.) and then hold your program up to the camera.
The link to the video upload will be available here within the application period.
Technical notes on video recording:
- fixed camera perspective: body and face must be fully visible at all times
- Songs/arias can be recorded individually
- all songs/arias must be combined into one video
Public recordings can be submitted as long as they meet the above conditions (no editing).
Please ensure that the video is correctly named "Name.Firstname.Applicationnumber.Program.mp4"
Requirements second round
The 2nd round of the entrance examination is expected to take place as an on-site examination at the university. You will be informed of the binding date in the invitation after the pre-selection from the 1st round of the video screening
The following works must be prepared:
- 5 opera arias
- at least one aria in German or translated into German
- one aria is to be staged
- Dramatic German text presented in a scene
All works must be performed from memory.
It is possible for members of the entrance examination committee to work on them scenically and/or musically.
