- Description
Hip hop is topical. Hardly any other pop-cultural genre crystallizes so many problems and questions of contemporary sign politics that can be contextualized aesthetically and politically and taken further in practice. We can learn a lot from hip hop, especially with regard to the local institution of 'high cultural' knowledge production. In addition, current hip hop practice opens up many, sometimes paradoxical, facets of the current diversity discourse with regard to its social reality. Based on a rough outline of the basic ideas and lines of development of hip hop, the seminar will explore the extent to which the topicality of hip hop can be understood from an artistic-scientific perspective. Artists from the Hamburg hip hop scene will also have their say: they will be invited to present their respective works in the seminar and explain the associated interpretation of hip hop.
